Once you have mastered the art of hitting or standing you can be in control of your hand at any US casino. We have given you tips on playing soft hands and hard hands and the fine art of splitting cards. You have to take all that into consideration when you are playing so you can decide whether or not to hit or stand.

The odds are always in the dealers favor because they understand the rules and they know when to hit and to stand. Knowing some facts can help you get a better understanding of the game. There are 52 cards in a deck of cards, in that 52 cards there are 16 cards that can equal 10, the 10’s, Jacks, Queens, Kings and Aces can be used as a 10 or a 1.

So the basic strategy teaches you that always assume that the dealer has a ten or that the dealer will be giving you a 10. The rule is that if you have a 17 or less and the dealer has a Jack, Queen or King, 10, 9 or an 8 then you really have no choice but to hit. The reason that is because the chances of the dealer busting is pretty low, so a hand of 17 is kind of low so you want to hit but if the dealer is showing a 10 and an 8 the chances of them hitting less than a 10 is pretty low so you have a chance .

The rules are as follows, if you have a 17 thru 20 then you stand, if you have a 13-16 then you should hit if you have a 7 thru Ace. If you have a 12 you should hit on a 2 and 3 and then a 7 thru Ace and stand on a 4, 5 and 6. If you have an 11 then you should double down on any card. If you have a 10 then you should double down unless you have ten or an ace. If your hand is a 9 then hit on a 2 and double down through 3 thru 6 and hit on a 7 thru Ace. Hit in anything if your hand has a 5-8. These tips are if you are playing hard hands.

If you are playing soft hands then here are some tips, if your hand is an Ace or a 9 then stand on all cards. If you have an Ace and an 8 then stand on anything but a 6, if you have an Ace and a 6 then hit on the 2 and double down on the 3,4,5 and 6 and then hit on the rest. If you have an Ace and a 4 or an Ace and 5 then hit on the 2 and 3, double on the 4,5 and 6 and then hit on the rest. If you have an Ace and a 2 or an Ace and a 3 then hit on the 2-4 and double down on the 5 and 6 and the hit on the remaining cards.

Blackjack is probably the 2nd most popular game besides online poker sites.

Statistically there are 10 different pairs that you can be dealt in the game of Blackjack. Here are some quick tips before we go into detail, the first thing you will want to do is split the aces and the 8’s, do this no matter what the dealer’s cards are. Then you will never split the 5’s or 10’s no matter what the dealer’s upcard is.

Always split the ace because the aces can be used as a one or a 10. This rule is based on the basic strategy that you will be dealt a 10 when you hit. By splitting the aces toy take an ok hand and possible turn these two hands in two winning hands. Aces are hard to come by in the game and with 16 cards equaling 10 you have a great chance of getting a great hand and doubling your winnings.

If you have 2’s should you split them? This answer will apply to 3’s and 7’s. The split the 2’s, 3’s and 7’s versus a dealer who has an 8 or better. Always assume that the dealer has a 10 in the pocket card. If the dealer has a 12 thru a 17 and you get a 14 then you have a good chance of busting on a 12 thru a 16 but there is a good chance of outdrawing the dealer if the dealer has a 17. If the dealer has an 8 or better then you shouldn’t add any more money to the pot.

The fours you should never split, there are exceptions and the exception is that you can split 4’s when the dealer has a show card of 5 or a 6. A pair of 4’s is really a hard 8 and that gives you a good chance of totaling an 18. Now, if the dealer comes up with a 5 or 6 then the dealer has a great chance of busting. Your ideal is to get 14 on the splits because you would win the hands if the dealer does go bust.

Never split fives, under no circumstances should you split a 5 because that would total a hard 10. You have a better chance of keeping the cards together because under the basic strategy rules the chances that you will hit a 10 is a good chance. That is why it isn’t safe to split 5’s.

Split the 6’s when the dealer has a 2 thru 6 if not then take the hit. The7’s are split the same as 2’s and 3’s. You should always split an 8 for the same basic strategy reason; with so many tens in the deck the chances that you will get a 10 are very good.

When it comes to splitting 9’s, this strategy is a bit different than the others. If the dealer has a show cards or 2 thru 6 or a 8 thru 9 then split but stand if the show cards are 7’s, 10’s and Ace’s. You can split a 10 but chances of getting another 10 are pretty good. So you may want to stand.

If you want to be on your way in playing the game of Blackjack then here are some tips we can offer to help you win. The first piece of advice is to make sure that you know the game, know the terminology like split, insurance and double down. The better of an understanding you get with the game the better game you will play. The second tip is always use a basic strategy, player who uses the basic strategy will often become the better player. You can read about the basic strategy in the Learning to Play Section.

The next piece of advice is to scout the tables and the players. This doesn’t mean hang around the tables and look at what they are doing and what their cards are. This means chose a table that has a bet limit that you can play with. Stay away from the table where people seem to be tipsy or even drunk. If you are a beginner then you want to play at a low limit because chances are that the other players at that table are beginners as well. If you aren’t comfortable playing a fast game then choose the tables whose players also want a slow paced game?

You don’t want to choose a table that has fast play if you aren’t at that level yet. Other players get annoyed when a new player who isn’t sure about the rules and what to do join their game it slows them down, Choose a table that works for you.

You should never take insurance at the Blackjack table unless you are an experienced player or are an experienced card counter. By you taking out insurance it will only benefit the casino you really don’t need insurance. You as the player end up losing money in the long run unless you know how to count the cards.

Know how to manage your money at the table. Experts say that you should not sit at any Blackjack table where the minimum is 5 percent or more of your total playing money. You will not have enough money if your bankroll is 5 percent of the limit do the best thing to do is to find a table with a lower limit. One good characteristic of a good blackjack player is being able to manage the money. If you can’t do that then you will never become a good Blackjack player.

One way to become a well liked Blackjack player and that is to tip the dealer. It is suggested that you tip the dealer during the game; it shows the dealer you appreciate her work plus it doesn’t help to suck up a little. Do not only tip the dealer when he gives you a good hand, show good sportsmanship by tipping the dealer with both good and bad hands. Karma helps every step of the way. Plus you will be helping a dealer support themselves because dealers like waitresses rely on tips to survive.

In blackjack, not poker, a hard hands means that a hand that does not have an Ace, so it can only be placed as an Ace. A hard hand is also a hand that has an Ace but must be played as a 1 in order to avoid the bust. Some common plays you will be making when you play hard hands. You will always hit a hard 8 or less. The next thing you will want to know that you will always stand on a hard 17 or better. Mathematically this only leaves about 8 more winning possibilities.

When you are playing hard hands a 12 through a 16 is called Stiff Hands, these hands you don’t want because it will be hard to beat the dealer. The potential for a double down is a hard 9 through a hard 11 and can be good to double down. Playing the hand total of 9, in this case when you have a total card amount of 9. The double down is played if the dealer is showing a 3, 4, 5 or 6. If you see any other than these cards then take a hit.

When playing with basic strategy you can assume that you will be given a 10 because there are 4 of them plus the Jacks, Queens and Kings are counted as tens as well. If you have a 9 in your hand then the bets card you can get a 10 or an Ace you can use as a 10. Coming up with a 19 is a very good hand and can be hard to beat but it is beatable, you want the dealer to have either over 21 or fewer than 19 in order for you to win.

Playing a hard total of 10. If the dealer has an upward of 2 thru 9 then you should double down. If the dealer has anything else then hit. Most of the time you will get a 10 when you are hitting because there are a total of 16 tens in the deck as we just mentioned. If you begin with a ten then chances are you will end up with a 20. A total of 20 in your cards is great there is only one hand better but the chances are that you get a 10 is the same chances that the dealer will get a 10 as well.

Playing a total hand of 11, this is when you want to double down if the dealer has a 2 thru 10. If all else then take a hit. With there being so many tens in the deck. This gives you a great chance of being given a 21. The only way a dealer can beat a 20 is to get a 21 and the only way to lose a 20 hand is if the dealer comes up with a push.

Playing a total hard 12, stand if the dealer is showing a 4,5 or 6 and then stand otherwise, you are playing a hard 13-16, stand if the dealer has an upward of 2 thru 6 and hit otherwise and if you are playing hard 17 thru 21 then always stand .

The term soft hands mean that the hand has an Ace at casinos. There is so flexibility in how to play the hand because you are less likely to lose with an Ace in your hand because it can be uses as a 1 or a 10. It really is almost impossible to go bust with a soft hand. You have to remember in a game of soft hands that when the card total is getting high you must use that Ace as a one. Another tip is that you want to stand in a soft 18 or higher and you want to hit on a 17 or lower.

If you have a 5 or a 6 in your hand then you want to double down. The reason being that if you are dealt a 10 you have almost the same total as you started with and anything less than a ten will improve your hand. The higher the cards the harder it is to get Blackjack. Sometimes getti9ng Blackjack is not the goal, the goal is to beat the house getting a 21 is a huge bonus. Now, if the dealer has a 5 or 6 then the dealer has more of a chance for folding so doubling down is a great move for you at this point.

The same would go for a 4, 5 or 6 for an upcard but it you get anything else then take the hit. Having these cards is almost the same as playing soft hand 13 or 14. The reason is that most players will not stand on a 13 or 14 chances are you will not go bust with a 4, 5 or 6 in your hand. When you double down there is more money to win and you have to put together the best combination of cards in order to win the larger pot.

Playing a soft 17, would be wise if you are dealt a 3, 4, 5 or 6, if you don’t then take the hit. When you have a soft 17 the highest card you can be given is a 10 which will give you a 17 and the odds are that you will beat the dealer. These two circumstances combined make the double down a great way to get more money.

Playing soft 18 will consist of doing the following; doubling down if the dealer is showing a 3, 4, 5 or 6, Stand if the dealer has a 2, 7 or 8 and then takes the hit if the dealer has a 9, 10 or Ace. When you are playing with an 18 then you have to be careful because it is close to 21 and the last thing you want to do is go over.

Playing the Soft 19 to 21, this rule of thumb is simple, STAND, toy can’t improve a natural 21, it is an automatic winner. Any number from 19 to 21, you have a good chance of going over the top and that will cause you to bust.
